NSP: More than 30 lbs of marijuana found in car tires

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) — Over 30 lbs of marijuana was found hidden inside car tires by the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP).

A trooper contacted a driver at a gas station near the Giltner interchange of I-80 around noon. The trooper reports becoming suspicious of criminal activity.

An NSP K9 was brought in, who indicated there was an odor controlled substances inside the vehicle.

After searching the vehicle, troopers found several inflated tires stored in the cargo area of the SUV. Something could be heard moving inside the tires, which led them to uncover 35 lbs of marijuana hidden inside.

The driver, 54-year-old Greg Jones of California, and passenger, 24-year-old Shalene Soucie of Michigan, were arrested on multiple drug charges.
