NSP SWAT Team rescues Indiana kidnapping victim on I-80

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska State Patrol Troopers helped rescue an Indiana kidnapping victim and arrested the suspect near Grand Island on Wednesday.

Law enforcement authorities alerted NSP of a suspect and kidnapping victim believed to be traveling westbound in Nebraska. Troopers eventually located the Chevy Silverado traveling westbound on I-80. Indiana officials told NSP that they believed the suspect had several firearms in the vehicle.

Troopers with the NSP Swat Team attempted to make contact with the truck near mile marker 314. According to NSP, the suspect drove through the median and began to travel eastbound.

Troopers conducted a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the truck to a stop. NSP Swat took the suspect into custody without further incident and they rescued the female passenger.

The female passenger told troopers the suspect handcuffed her during the drive from Indiana to Nebraska. During a search of the truck, troopers located multiple firearms inside the cab of the vehicle.

Homeland Security Investigators, the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force and the Omaha Police Department assisted in the operation.
