Officials ready for increased traffic during boys state basketball tournament in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The boys state basketball tournament tips off Wednesday morning in Lincoln and law enforcement is ready for increased traffic.

Nebraska State Patrol said it will be conducting another safety campaign on state roads as thousands of fans flock to the Capital City.

NSP said it did the same thing last week during the girls state tournament.

From Wednesday through Saturday, NSP said it issued 348 speeding citations, 21 of those involved someone driving more than 100 mph.

NSP also made 21 DUI arrests during that stretch and helped nearly 140 motorists.

If you are traveling to Lincoln from I-180 this week, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities recommends going to N Street to get to Pinnacle Bank Arena.

You can also see more about the city’s construction projects near PBA or the Devaney Center on the city’s website. The Waze app is also a good resource, according to LTU.
