Officials report COVID-19 death, more than 100 new cases in Lancaster County

INCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Officials on Monday announced another Lancaster County resident has died from COVID-19.

The man, who was in his 70s and had been hospitalized, marks the 43rd virus-related death in the county.

Health officials also announced 102 new cases on Monday, bringing the total to 8,979.

Reported recoveries also increased from 3,862 to 3,922.

The overall positivity rate for Lancaster County increased from 8.9% to 9%, but remained below the state average of 11.2%.

A total of 51 people were hospitalized with the virus as of Monday afternoon. Of those, 31 are Lancaster County residents.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, repeated shaking with chills, repeated muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell.
