Officials searching for missing inmate from Community Corrections Center in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Officials are on the lookout for an inmate who did not return to the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln on Sunday.

Obiomachuckuka Njokanma, 48, started her sentence on Sept. 22, 2022. She was fulfilling a six to 10 year sentence for first degree assault and terroristic threats.

Njokanma is, 5’ 6”, 260 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

Anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts is asked to contact local police or the Nebraska State Patrol.

The Community Corrections Center is one of two community custody facilities operated by NDCS.

Officials say community custody is the lowest custody level and the least restrictive facility. Inmates are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.
