One year later and still no trial: Wife of Lincoln homicide victim has lost hope

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — It’s been a year since two Lincoln families lost their loved ones when police say they were intentionally run over.

On March 27, 2023, the Lincoln Police Department said Taylor Bradley killed two maintenance workers at an apartment complex near 40th Street and Nebraska Parkway.

The victims were Ronald Gonzalez and Christopher Karmazin.

Gonzalez’s wife, Georgina Gonzalez, said she is frustrated with the legal process.

“We don’t even want to meet when the state’s lawyer calls us anymore because it’s always the same; they always say the same thing,” she said. “We are just looking for ways to move forward.”

Gonzalez said her family came to the U.S. from El Salvador to escape from gangs and violence.

Her husband wanted to be buried back in his country, and she fulfilled his wishes.

“That’s how he wanted it to be,” she said. “He talked to me about it, that if he was not with us anymore, he wanted to be buried in his country and next to his father.”

Last month, a judge ordered Bradley, 28, to be evaluated before her trial to determine whether she understands the nature of her actions.

Monday was the deadline for that examination, according to court documents.

Bradley’s next court hearing is on April 11. A trial date has not yet been set.

Gonzalez said she’s lost hope in the justice system. Instead, she’s leaving everything in God’s hands.

“I simply pray God that it be his holy will,” Gonzalez said. “There is no other choice than to accept his will.”
