LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Nebraska school is cleaning up considerable damage after it was hit by lightning.
Kearney Public Schools says the bolt struck a brick chimney at Park Elementary last Friday.
The school was closed to start this week, but engineers have told officials that they can now hold classes, as there are no structural problems.
Kids are set to return Thursday, and most of the roof damage will be replaced this summer.
Three heating, ventilation and air conditioning units were also damaged, along with an automation system.
An accurate estimate on how much repairs are going to cost should be available in a few weeks.
