Precipitation chances through the weekend
There are a couple of opportunities to see precipitation through Monday. That said, these chances come in waves and in some instances, don’t produce much. The best rain chance resides in southwest Nebraska on Friday. It may start out initially as a wintry mix, but rain will be the primary precipitation type as the day progresses.
Some of these widely scattered showers may make a run for eastern Nebraska on Friday evening. Even then, the showers will be hit-or-miss and won’t be big rainmakers.
We expect a mix of sun and clouds in eastern Nebraska on Friday, and it should be a little warmer. High temperatures will be in the middle-50s for many areas. This is just a few degrees below normal for this time of year.
The weekend also features precipitation chances. There is an isolated light rain potential on Saturday morning. By evening, more scattered rain will be possible. There should be several dry hours in between.
Depending on how precipitation materializes on Saturday evening, some of it could last into Sunday. In that scenario, I would not be surprised to see a wintry mix or a transition to snow in some areas.
Unfortunately, the details are still unclear regarding Saturday night into Sunday even at this close of a range. It will be something we’re watching through the rest of Friday.
