Rainy and stormy Labor Day Weekend

After the Huskers first WIN, It’s time for some Friday night lights! The weather will look to be a bit mild with temperatures in the 70s under partly cloudy skies.

High School Football Game Of The Week

Friday night, a SLIGHT risk for severe weather is in place for west central Nebraska. Main concerns will be 60 mph winds, ping pong ball size hail, an isolated tornado and heavy downpours. Storm timing will be 5pm-midnight.

There will be a small chance for an isolated brief spin up with the initial cells Friday evening.

Stormcast shows storms moving in from the Dakotas this evening and moving SSW through tonight. Strongest storms will occur from 5pm-1am. Saturday afternoon, showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread across the state. Expect rain and thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening Saturday and Sunday.

Rain totals through Saturday night are expected to range from 1.50” to 2.25”+, with some areas picking up over 3” where storms and showers linger the longest.

Labor Day Weekend looks to be a bit of a washout. Saturday, widespread showers and thunderstorms will occur. Sunday will be the same story, showers and storms will sit over parts of eastern and north central Nebraska through the afternoon and evening. Monday, some lingering showers and thunderstorms will occur mostly east of Grand Island.

Friday afternoon, high temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s just like the past few days. A few peaks of sun will try and occur throughout the afternoon hours.

Labor Day Weekend looks to be quite gloomy and rainy across the state. Friday night, strong to severe storms in SW Nebraska. Saturday, showers and thunderstorms will move west–> east through the afternoon. Sunday afternoon will be the same story with rain and storms east of Grand Island. Temperatures staying well below average with rain likely on Wednesday. Summer heat is no where to be found through next week.
