Really warm, then really cold
We’re about to experience an incredible cool down Thursday, but before that it’s going to be warm. So warm that we’re expecting record heat on Wednesday! Thursday will be a transition day where it’ll be very warm in the morning, then very cold in the afternoon. After that, we’ll see bitterly cold temperatures all the way through next week. Storms are going to be possible on and off Thursday, then it’ll be dry through the weekend and into next week.
For Tuesday night, if you have plans to go out and about, it’ll be cloudy, breezy, and very mild. Temperatures are expected to hover in the middle 60s for most of the night. A sprinkle or two is also possible.
On Wednesday, we start the day very warm with plenty of clouds. The wind will be blowing out of the south at 20 to 40 mph. It will be very high, but it’ll be part of the reason we warm up so high. 76 in Lincoln would break the old record high of 74 set in 2019!
All of south central and SE Nebraska will be very warm on Wednesday (above) but only Lincoln and Omaha will have potential record highs. The record highs for everybody else is in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
The cold front will roll through Thursday morning bringing with it a chance for storms, some of which may be strong to severe. After that, it gets COLD.
By the middle of Thursday morning (above), it’s going to feel like winter across much of the state!
