LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Renovations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Morrill Hall are set to begin next week.

On Monday, crews will begin a nine-month maintenance and renovation project, which was funded by the Nebraska Legislature in 2021.

University officials say enhancements will include better energy conservation; improved Americans with Disabilities Act access; a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system; and lighting updates.

“We’re excited to begin the deferred maintenance project,” Susan Weller, director of the NU State Museum, said in a press release. “There will be some inconveniences for guests in the coming months, but our team is committed to providing a quality museum experience.

The museum will remain open during the renovations, as construction will be done floor by floor.

More information can be found on the museum’s website.
