A state senator is scheduled to introduce a legislative resolution seeking to make the Tin Roof Sundae the official sundae of Nebraska.

Senator Steve Erdman’s resolution notes that Harold Dean Thayer created the first Tin Roof Sundae at the Potter Sundry in Potter, Nebraska in the 1930’s.

Because the treat “has swept the nation as a favorite sundae,” and been marketed by popular ice cream brands, Erdman says it should become the state’s official sundae.

A hearing on the resolution by the Executive Board is scheduled for Thursday at noon in room 1507 of the capitol.
