Road closed during gas leak investigation

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Following a report of a large natural gas leak near N. 33rd and “O” Streets around 12:30 p.m., Black Hills Energy began investigating the cause.

A  portion of “O” was quickly closed down, between 33rd and 35th streets, and will remain closed until the completion of the investigation, likely later Thursday night. As of now, investigators believe it is a gas main break.

Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

Black Hills Energy is investigating reports of a natural gas leak in the area of N. 33rd and “O” Streets. Traffic in both the east and west lanes, from 33rd to 35th Streets, is closed for the duration of the investigation.

“Our highly trained technicians are working cooperatively with first responders to assess the situation,” stated Brandy Johnson, regional community affairs manager for Black Hills Energy. “The safety of our customers, employees, and communities is our highest priority and we are committed to restoring traffic flow in the area as soon as safely possible.”
