Sarpy County Board renames street in honor of Cpl. Daegan Page
Sarpy County Board chooses Page's mother and stepfather's street to be renamed in his honor

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners voted in favor during a meeting on Tuesday that would rename a street in honor of fallen Marine Cpl. Daegan Page.
The planned street dedication will rename the current Gertrude Street, from 157th to Emiline Street, to S. 162nd Ave. and Harrison Street.
Commissioners said the street was strategically chosen in Omaha. Page’s mother and stepfather live on the portion of the street that will be renamed.
“The street that we picked was very strategic and purposeful because that’s the street that Daegan’s mom and stepfather live on. So, we’re going to bookend you guys in perpetuity with the reminder of your son’s sacrifice and service to our country,” said Don Kelly, Chairman and District 1 Commissioner.
Page’s mom was presented with ceremonial street signs and a flag in his honor.
Page was buried in Omaha National Cemetery last September after he was killed in Afghanistan along with 12 other service members at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport while trying to help civilians evacuate.
