Sasse’s Senate send-off: farewell address Tuesday afternoon

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After 8 years representing Nebraska in the Senate, Ben Sasse is vacating his congressional seat.

Sasse announced his likely resignation in October, when he became the sole finalist for the position of President of the University of Florida.

Since that announcement, there has been speculation about who will fill the empty seat, with Governor Pete Ricketts and Ann Ashford throwing their hats in the ring.

Filling the position will be solely up to Governor-elect Jim Pillen.

A senator since 2015, Sasse has served on the Senate Committees for Intelligence, Finance, Budget and Judiciary.

Sasse’s farewell address will begin at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.
