Seasonal today with the concern for fire weather 4/11/2022

Chilly temperatures and cloudy skies this morning will eventually change into sunshine and seasonal April temperatures by the afternoon! Highs warm into the mid to upper 60s today with light wind speeds across the southeastern half of the state. Further north and west of us though, wind speeds will be gusty. This is raising the concern for fire weather today thanks to dry air, so avoid burning today. We remain mild overnight with lows only dropping down to the mid-40s. This is thanks to increasing clouds that will act as a blanket and prevent us from cooling. Wind speeds also increase across southeast Nebraska and this will increase our fire weather risk Tuesday for eastern NE. Temperatures sky rocket into the low 80s as warm air surges into the area ahead of a weather system. This weather system could bring strong to severe storms during the afternoon and evening. Large hail, strong wind gusts and even tornadoes are possible tomorrow. Now is the time to plan ahead and practice your severe weather safety plan. A large temperature drop, brings highs into the 50s for the rest of the week with windy conditions.
