Second round of health insurance enrollment

firstname.lastname@example.org For the second time, open enrollment is underway for the Health Insurance Marketplace.
You have until Feb. 15th to enroll, or you’ll face a penalty at tax time.
David Eyth of Lincoln is already signed up for insurance through the Marketplace, but recently got a letter saying it’s time to review his plan.
“I’m not really looking to jump from one insurance company to the other. I’m just going to have to get online and spend a little bit of time and see,” he tells me.
Eyth is one of 43,000 Nebraskans who signed up by last spring. Prior to that, more than 12 percent of the state was uninsured.
Pam Smith works at Community Action, a nonprofit that helps get people enrolled. She’s a trained Marketplace navigator.
“It seems to be a little smoother this year. They’ve reduced the number of screens, the number of questions,” she says.
According to Smith, even if you’re already enrolled and like your current plan, it’s important to double check it. You should make sure access to certain doctors, pharmacies and prescriptions hasn’t changed.
Another thing to keep an eye out for is premiums; most will go up.
Smith says making sure you have your social security card, last pay stub, and current health insurance info handy can help speed up the enrollment process.
But, if you run into trouble, Community Action can help.
“Don’t get frustrated, and when you do get frustrated, or if you do, please give us a call, because that’s what we’re here to help,”she says.
