A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in place for south central and central portions of Nebraska through 7:00am Wednesday morning. If storms can hold together, additional watches further east may be needed.

Scattered showers and storms will be possible late tonight into early Wednesday morning. See below for the timing via the latest StormCast weather model.

This track will likely waver a bit as it gets going, so areas north and south of the forecasted storm (above) may still see severe weather. Because of that, much of the state is in a level 1 “Marginal Risk” with the higher risk for severe weather in SW Nebraska.

The best chance for soaking rains in the Lincoln area will be very early Wednesday morning.

Another round of storms will be possible Wednesday evening into the overnight. Storms will try to form over eastern Nebraska and move east quickly after they do.

SE Nebraska is the most likely spot for the Wednesday storms to develop, therefore, a level 2 “Slight Risk” is in place for this area. Large hail, damaging wind, and an isolated tornado threat will be possible.

It gets warm again starting on Wednesday. Highs will be back to normal, but a good 10 degrees warmer than we’ve been lately.
