Severe threat out west tonight

Late this evening and into overnight tonight, most of western and central Nebraska will have strong to severe thunderstorms pushing through. Some of these storms might make it close to the viewing area providing some light to heavy downpours. These storms could linger into early tomorrow morning and last until the early afternoon. The rest of the day will be pretty decent with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid–80s. A better chance for strong to severe storms to make it near the capital city will likely be tomorrow evening into Wednesday morning. The next few days will be mild, before a sweltering hot weekend starts. Highs will be in the mid to upper 90s with heat index values in the triple digits.
