Severe Thunderstorm Watch for central and western Nebraska

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place through midnight Friday for much of Nebraska.

Storms that do form will have the potential to get severe quickly.

Above is a look at our StormCast, which shows where storms may be as the evening progresses.

There is a small chance for a tornado in the green-shaded area above.

It’s a low 2%, but it’s not zero, so please stay aware.

Large hail is much more likely.

The area in the yellow-shaded area has the highest risk, with very large hail possible where the black lines are located.

Damaging wind will also be a concern as the night progresses. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph will be possible.
