Severe weather potential: September 16-17, 2025
There is a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH in place through 10pm CDT/9pm MDT for the western half of Nebraska.
Below is what our StormCast weather model is showing for timing, location, and duration of the storm potential.
The main concern with storms tonight is large hail. There have already been reports of tennis ball size hail in the McCook area (as of 2pm).
Damaging wind is also a possibility with storms that form. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph will be likely with a few storms, especially in the yellow shaded area.
An isolated tornado is possible, as well. Not everyone will see a tornado, but small, weak tornadoes will be possible as storms get going.
