Significantly cooler starting Wednesday
With a cold front passage on Tuesday night, a much different pattern will arrive for Wednesday. This cold front will bring cooler temperatures, more cloud cover, and some rain chances too.
Cloud cover will increase early Wednesday, with skies turning cloudy by afternoon. High temperatures will be a far cry from Lincoln’s high of 103° on Tuesday. We’re looking at highs in the 60s and 70s across the area on Wednesday.
As we go into Wednesday afternoon, showers and storms will start to become possible in eastern Nebraska. During the evening, we expect the showers to start to drift south and west, mainly south of I-80.
By the time all things are said and done, we’re not looking at a ton of rainfall with this event. The lowest totals through Thursday morning will be to the north of Lincoln. The highest totals in our area will likely be closer to the Nebraska-Kansas state line.
We’re keeping a few more rain chances around through Friday, and it will remain very cool. We’re forecasting high temperatures in the mid-60s on Thursday and upper-60s to near 70° on Friday. By Saturday we may be back in the 80s.
