Sleet falls as Lincoln crews prepare for transition to heavy snow

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Lincoln provided an update on Monday on how transportation crews are keeping roads safe during a major winter storm.

Officials said city snowfighters are now applying granular salt with brine to arterial streets after some sleet began to fall around 3:45 a.m. on Monday.

Officials warn conditions could worsen throughout the day.

Channel 8’s weather team is forecasting more than eight inches of heavy, wet snow could fall Monday into Tuesday.

City officials say drivers should “expect reduced visibility from blowing snow and slick spots, especially on untreated surfaces.” They say to take extra time if you must travel on Monday.

This is a developing story and we will provide updates
