Smoke lingers, but a cool weekend
The smoke that has been around for the last couple of days will try to stick around through Saturday. The “Near Surface” smoke will start to let up a little, but will still be an issue.
The smoke aloft will also start to push east, but there will be enough of it around during the day that we’ll see a haze in the sky most of the day.
Because of the lingering smoke from Canada, there is an Air Quality Alert in place through Saturday afternoon. Those susceptible to lower air quality will want to limit their time outdoors.
There is a chance for some scattered showers Saturday morning into the afternoon hours. It won’t amount to much, but you may need an umbrella on and off.
The better chance for strong to severe storms will be in the western half of the state of Nebraska. This is for an afternoon and evening storm potential.
For Lincoln, we’ll start off with temperatures in the 50s! We eventually warm up to around 80 degrees.
The upper 70s and lower 80s will be common across our area Saturday afternoon.
There’s a little bit better chance for storms Sunday morning in Lincoln and it’ll be a little cooler. We get back into the 80s on Monday.
