Smoke sticks around through Thursday
One more day with smoke is expected, then a cold front will roll through giving us a chance for storms and clearing out the smoke. Temperatures will be in the 80s for highs through the weekend and then highs in the 70s next week. Quite a few chances for rain, too.
The Air Quality Index has been in the 150s and 160s much of the day, which is in the “unhealthy” for all category. It will likely remain in this category through the overnight.
Because of the smoke, we do continue to have an Air Quality Alert in place into Thursday.
That smoke will continue into Thursday morning before eventually being pushed out by a cold front later Thursday evening.
There’s the cold front! That will push the haze out by Thursday night but will also bring with it rain and thunderstorm chances.
There is a level 1 “Marginal Risk” for severe weather Thursday evening. Storms will form in north central Nebraska by the afternoon, then move into SE Nebraska after sunset.
