So you’re saying there’s a chance
A Dense Fog Advisory is in place for the eastern edge of Nebraska into Iowa through 11am Saturday. Visibility will drop below 1 mile at times.
Are you hoping for a white Christmas? Well, some of us have a pretty good chance at seeing one!
An interesting storm system will be pushing it’s way through the middle part of the country this weekend and early next week. It will bring with it rain, thunderstorms and snow chances.
It will also drag down much colder air from Canada.
There’s a chance! The graphic above shows who may see some accumulating snow Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s take a look at the next few days first.
First things first, let’s look at Saturday. It is going to be another very mild day!
We’ll see some fog in the morning, then some clearing by the afternoon. Rain chances start to pick up in the evening.
A little bit of everything over the next few days. Rain late Saturday, storms early then on and off Christmas Eve, then rain changing to snow late Christmas Eve and into Christmas Day.
Above is what StormCast is saying the radar will look like through Sunday night. Notice the storms east and the snow west.
Through Sunday night, the best chance for accumulating snowfall (above) will be in the western half of the state. It will mainly be rain for the eastern half.
Now let’s move into Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Sunday night through early next week, the storm system churns away.
This will give a good portion of Nebraska a chance at some additional rain and snowfall. See above for that video.
As I mentioned at the top of this article, the best chance to see over 1″ of snow late Sunday into Monday is in central and the eastern half of the state. Mainly north of I80.
If you have travel plans, keep an eye on the forecast for changes!
