State Sens. Mike Flood, Patty Pansing Brooks will vie for House seat in November

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Within a half-hour of the polls closing in Nebraska on Tuesday night, the Associated Press called the Republican and Democratic primaries in the 1st Congressional District.

State Sen. Mike Flood and State Sen. Patty Pansing Brooks coasted to victory in their respective primaries.

The 1st District seat is currently vacant. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry resigned in March after being convicted of three felonies, but his name remained on the ballot.

A special election to fill the remainder of his term in Congress is set for June 28. The GOP selected Flood and the Democratic Party picked Pansing Brooks to run in that election, too.
