Storm chances increasing into the 4th of July weekend
As we head into the 4th of July weekend, the storm chance does start to increase. Most of Friday will be dry, but the rain chance increases after sunset.
Our StormCast weather model has a line of storms just to the west of Lincoln at 10pm. Spot showers and storms will be possible out in front of this line, too.
Below is what our StormCast weather model is showing for timing, location, and duration of the storm potential.
Storms that do form in this line could be on the strong to severe side, so a level 1 “Marginal Risk” is in place for much of Nebraska Friday. Damaging wind will be the main concern.
Temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 80s to around 90 for all of us.
The dew point will once again be rather warm.
So the heat index will be closing in on the middle 90s in the afternoon.
As we head into the rest of the holiday weekend, more storms are possible Saturday and Sunday and it remains very warm.
