Storms and cooler air headed our way
Above is a video of what a recent weather models says will happen Monday night through Tuesday. Storms are going to be possible on and off tonight in western Nebraska, then in central and eastern Nebraska Tuesday. The severe weather threat will move from west to east and start in central Nebraska early in the afternoon before making their way east during the late afternoon and evening. See the bottom of this post for a look at the full forecast video!
Because of the cold front slicing across the state on Tuesday, there is a Marginal to Slight Risk (level 1-2) for severe storms Tuesday. See StormCast above for timing of the storms!
There is a small chance for an isolated tornado on Tuesday. As storms get going, some rotation within those storms looks likely so one or two spin ups look possible.
Also a concern is big hail. There is a 5-15% chance for hail and if hail does from, those near those black hash marks could see hail in excess of 2″.
Wind in excess of 60 mph is also possible with storms that get going.
For those that are in need of some moisture, this is the highest chance we’ve had in a very long time.
Lastly, the highs in the 90s are now gone! 80 degrees may be the warmest temperature we see for a good 10 days.
