Storms roll in Thursday night into early Friday
The first half of Thursday is going to be quiet and mild. It’s the evening hours that the storm chance really increases. More storm chances come our way over the weekend and into early next week, but most of next week is looking quiet.
We’ll see plenty of sunshine on Thursday with highs right around 80 degrees.
The chance for storms increases as Thursday evening progresses. The likely timeframe for storms in Lincoln is well after sunset.
Storms will push from north central Nebraska through SE Nebraska Thursday evening. See above for the video!
There is a level 3 “Enhanced Risk” is in place for much of central, south central, and SE Nebraska. A level 2 “Slight Risk” is in place for much of the eastern 2/3rds of the state, with a level 1 “Marginal Risk” on the outer edges.
The tornado threat is our main concern. The area shaded in brown and green have a chance at seeing a few tornadoes as the line of storms moves through.
Damaging straight line winds are also a concern with these storms. Wind gusts in excess of 75 mph will be possible.
Large hail is possible with some areas having the chance at 2″+ size hail.
