Summer heat has arrived
Temperatures were in the 90s and 100s across Nebraska Wednesday and that will continue into Thursday. We catch a quick break on Friday, but the comes back for the weekend. Storm chances are out there and any storm that gets going may be strong to severe.
A HEAT ADVISORY is in place for Thursday afternoon for SE Nebraska. The heat index will reach 100-107 degrees.
Temperatures will warm up fast on Thursday. We’ll be near 70 around 6am and already near 90 by noon.
Afternoon high temperatures will be in the lower to middle 90s.
The dew point will climb into the middle and upper 60s to around 70 degrees.
The heat index will soar into the triple digits in SE Nebraska and may reach as high as 107 in some spots.
Storms will become possible by late Thursday afternoon into the evening. They are expected to from somewhere in SE Nebraska and quickly move southeast.
The level 1 and 2 “Marginal” to “Slight” Risk for severe weather is in place for the storm potential Thursday afternoon.
Almost all of Nebraska may see severe weather again on Friday.
