Team of thieves believed to have racked up $5,400 bill after distracting an elderly woman

The victim says she was shopping at a Lincoln grocery store when a stranger suddenly kneeled down in front of her

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 66-year-old woman says she was shopping at the HyVee at 7151 Stacy Lane when someone she didn’t know suddenly kneeled in front of her while on the phone.

The victim believes that’s when someone else stole a credit card from her purse.

This all happened around 11:00 a.m. on December 17th.

Within the next half hour she was alerted that the card had been used by two females to buy $5,473.86 worth of gift cards from the Walmart at 8480 Andermatt Drive.

Officers have been going over digital evidence and spoke with employees at both of the stores involved.

So far there’s no word on any leads in this case.

The only information provided about the stranger believed to have distracted the victim is that it was a female.
