Teenager convicted in 2022 Waverly stabbing

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A teenager pleaded no contest Friday in a stabbing at a Waverly park.

Shane Moore, 17, was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder and a reduced weapon charge.

In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped a first-degree assault charge and another weapon charge.

He was tried as an adult.

The conviction comes more than two years after the stabbing at Wayne Park.

Moore, then 14, stabbed another teen multiple times on Oct. 13, 2022, according to court documents.

The 15-year-old victim needed heart surgery, authorities said.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said at the time that Moore committed the crime for notoriety.

Judge Ryan Post will sentence Moore on Dec. 17.

He could get anywhere from one to 70 years.
