LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three lanes are closed at the intersection of 56th Street and Old Cheney Road due to a stormwater pipe maintenance project.

The inside southbound lane of 56th is closed between Nebraska Highway 2 and just north of Old Cheney Road.

The northbound left turn lane of 56th and the eastbound left turn lane of Old Cheney are also closed.

The work is scheduled to be finished by June 21.

“Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Traffic Engineering division has made timing modifications to the South 56th Street and Old Cheney Road intersection and will continue to evaluate the timing of traffic signals in the surrounding area through the closure,” Traffic Engineering Manager Dan Carpenter said in a press release. “These temporary traffic signal changes will assist with traffic flow.”

Business access will be maintained throughout the closures, but drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route and be cautious in and around the work zone.
