Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are in effect for portions of Nebraska Thursday night through Friday morning.

TONIGHT:  Mostly clear skies.  Areas of patchy frost possible.  Temperatures will drop to the 30°s.  Lincoln Low Temperature:  38°

FRIDAY:  Mostly sunny skies.  Clouds increasing by late afternoon.  Temperatures in the upper 60°s.  Lincoln High Temperature:  67°

FRIDAY NIGHT:  Increasing clouds.  A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible overnight.  Low temperatures in the mid-40°s.

FROST BUSTER

I’m watching mid and high level clouds drifting through Montana and South Dakota.  These clouds are expected to pass over Nebraska Thursday evening in to Friday morning.  The clouds will have a major impact on temperatures overnight, and whether or not frost develops.  If the clouds stay overhead for many hours, the clouds will act as a thermal blanket, holding heat closer to the Earth.  If clouds quickly depart, heat accumulated during the day Thursday will be radiated in to space, allowing temperatures to get cold and frost to form.
