Triple digit heat index values expected today and tomorrow 6/16/2021
We are in for one sweltering hot day across Nebraska as highs are will climb near or at the triple digits. Current conditions outside are pretty mild right now in the 70s across southeast Nebraska with dry conditions for most. Pop up thunderstorms are currently sliding along the Nebraska and Iowa border, but most of southeast Nebraska will remain dry.
A few pop up thunderstorms are possible into the afternoon and evening again, but they will be short lived. Most of the area will likely stay dry with highs in the upper 90s and possibly a few triple digits. Everyone will have heat index values in the low triple digits, so limit your time outdoors and stay hydrated.
Tomorrow will be even warmer with highs in the triple digits and the chance for more isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures cool back near average into the weekend with highs in the 80s for most of next week.
