Two dead, teen injured in suspected murder-suicide in Lincoln, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide at a central Lincoln apartment complex Wednesday morning.
Around 12:10 a.m., a 13-year-old boy called 911 to report that he and his 40-year-old mother had been shot at an apartment complex near 22nd and G streets.
When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old Lincoln man who had appeared to have shot himself, according to Police Chief Michon Morrow.
The teen and his mother had also been shot, and both were taken to a hospital. The woman died from her injuries and the teen was taken into surgery and is expected to survive.
Investigators think the man shot the woman and teen before shooting himself, Morrow said. A gun and multiple shell cases were recovered at the scene.
Morrow said this is the second fatal domestic violence case in the last month.
