On March 9, 2023, Todd Scherer of Lincoln was found dead in the stables at Fonner Park, the horse racetrack in Grand Island.
Police said Logan Hunts Horse, now 21, shot the 62-year-old in the stomach.
Hunts Horse, Kelly and Harris then left the stables but later returned to find that Scherer was still alive.

Court documents say Hunts Horse hit Scherer in the head with a baseball bat, then Austin stole his wallet.
The three split Scherer’s money among them, police said.
Hunts Horse was sentenced last month to 88 to 134 years in prison for second-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
