Lincoln man found shot to death at horse stables in Grand Island, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Grand Island Police are investigating the shooting of a man who was found dead at Fonner Park horse stables on Thursday.

Around 10 a.m., authorities were sent to the horse stables on a report of a man who was not breathing.

When police and first responders arrived, they found the body of 62-year-old Todd Scherer of Lincoln, with a gunshot wound to his torso.

He was found in one of the stable’s tack rooms.

Police say a person of interest was quickly identified with help from law enforcement and witnesses.

Logan Hunts Horse, 20, from South Dakota, was found sleeping in another tack room in the same building.

He was then taken into custody and lodged at the Hall County Department of Corrections.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call Grand Island Police.
