Fire officials say there is almost $500,000 in total damage to the Karma Nightclub and Cabaret building located near 9th and N streets in Lincoln.

The fire started Saturday after 7 PM. More than a dozen fire fighters spent several hourbattlingng the blaze. They say the structure is a complete loss.

“It’s like apart of me has been ripped out of my heart. I mean we’re never going to have that same establishment again, but our family is always going to be together,” says Performer Tony Hodge.

“When I got here and pulled on 9th Street and saw the fire trucks and got close and saw the flames. You know it’s disheartening,” says Kyle Baun.

The owner of Karma says he will rebuild because it’s a safe haven for lots of people not only in Lincoln but for people across the whole state. Fire inspectors say it could take a couple of weeks to find the cause. They have to wait for the ice to melt. It’s also dangerous right now inside the structure with walls that could fall down.
