UPDATE: LSO continues to investigate fatal hit-and-run

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for a vehicle they believe is tied to Friday’s fatal hit-and-run.

The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday in a construction zone on N.W. 48th Street just north of Interstate 80.

Sheriff’s deputies say the victim, 38-year-old Gabe Wilken of Lincoln, lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. They say he was hit by a driver and dragged nearly two miles. He was located near N.W. 27th and West O Street where he was pronounced dead.

The Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the driver and vehicle involved. The believe a white 1980-1990 two-door Ford or Chevy pickup with smaller tires might be involved. It was last seen leaving the scene westbound at a high rate of speed.

Autopsy results show Wilken died of blunt force trauma. Toxicology results are pending.
