Van full of kids rolls on I-80 after getting cut off, authorities say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A van carrying eight kids was cut off while driving down Interstate 80 in Hall County on Wednesday, leading to a crash, authorities say.
Wood River Fire & Rescue says two adults were also in the van, which lost control and rolled.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, no one was seriously hurt despite the violence of this wreck near Wood River.
Officials say several witnesses jumped in to help, including a nurse who assisted with getting the victims ready for transport.
Wood River Fire & Rescue is also thanking Alda Fire, Doniphan Fire, Grand Island Fire, and CHI Health St. Francis for assistance.
The driver accused of cutting off the van was cited on suspicion of careless driving.
NSP points out that all 10 of the people inside the van were wearing seat belts.
Channel 8 recently reported that our state ranks as the fourth-worst nationwide when it comes to wearing seat belts.
