Very warm Friday, storm chances increasing into the weekend
We are on the very edge of a level 1 “Marginal Risk” for severe storms Thursday evening. The chance is small for storms to form in SE Nebraska, but if one does, hail the size of quarter would be possible.
As we get into Friday, we’re looking at another VERY mild day. Highs are expected to get into the 80s once again.
During the day, a cold front will be pushing across the state from NW to SE. While it does, it’s going to try to spark some strong storms. Below is what our StormCast weather model is showing for timing and duration of the storms.
Because of this storm potential, the Storm Prediction Center has parts of central and NE Nebraska in a level 1 “Marginal Risk” for severe storms. Hail and damaging wind are the main concerns.
After the storm chance on Friday, we get rather unsettled. There are more storm chances over the weekend with MUCH cooler air moving in for Sunday.
It’s severe weather awareness week and today we are talking about hail. Click HERE for more on that!
