Family and friends of Timothy Montgomery gathered in downtown Lincoln in his honor Tuesday night.

Family and friends of Timothy Montgomery gathered in downtown Lincoln in his honor Tuesday night.
Starting at 7:30 p.m. people started to gather with flowers, candles and balloons to memorialize Montgomery.
One of his closest friends, Justin McAfee, organized the vigil to help the grieving process, while sharing stories and memories of Montgomery.
Despite the rain and wind the candles stayed lit and people talked about the impact Montgomery had on his family and friends.
“People might say a lot of stuff about Tim but the one thing they gunna say about him is he loved them kids,” said McAfee. “He was the type of guy that did a lot for everybody in the community.”
Montgomery was killed early Sunday morning outside of a Lincoln bar between 13th and 14th streets on O street.
