Visinet closes its doors.

In just two weeks, two foster care agencies have terminated their contracts with the state. And now, more bad news as one of those agencies has shut down operations.

Visinet is one of the agencies that signed a contract with the Coordinate Care for Nebraska's child welfare system.

But as of midnight last night, all Visinet work ceased a surprise to both the state and the foster parents who are left questioning the future of the program.

It's work Jackie Mills describes as glue.  As a mother of one, guardian of another…and foster parent to 5.

Jackie says her job is to form a bond with the children of nebraska that otherwise may never experience a living situation that sticks.

The home security that some children don't ever have that they will feel when they are with you just to be a part of their life and hopefully always have that bond.

But jackie says her answer to why she does it…

Is the same answer to why she's so upset with the recent news that 2 of the 5 agencies contracted out to the state to coordinate care for nebraska's child welfare system have ceased.

Specifically, after visinet announced they would not continue any work as of midnight last night.

A surprise to the state…and the people they're working for.

Foster parents no nothing and we're the ones that provide the care for these children.

In a statement released to us today in regards to the questions foster parents like jackie are asking…

The department of health and human services says…

“we're taking steps to ensure that kids and families are provided for and that there is as little disruption of services as possible, including working with the foster parents and other providers who worked with visinet.”

but jackie says she's yet to see that work… Or even hear of it.

And that's too hard for kids who have already had it hard enough.

How do you tell like a 6 year old or a ten year old or you're not going on visit tonight. Why? there's no answer. And the people who that don't live with these kids don't have to deal with that on a day to day basis.

We tried contacting visinet today…but we never heard from them.

In an email we received from health and human services…

They said they did appreciate the agenicies services and regret the situation couldn't have ended better.
