Waiting for the Call
Right now, four hundred Nebraskans and nearly 85,000 people across the country are waiting on an organ donation. They have no other medication to try and no other experimental procedures to explore. An organ transplant is the only thing that will keep them alive.
Sadly, one person dies every hour because the organ they needed was not donated.
Nebraska is a first person consent state. That means if you have a legal document stating that you want to donate your organs, no one, not even you're family can stand in your way.
Legal documents can be your Driver's License or a Living Will. However, the best way to ensure that your wish to donate is followed is to register your intent with the Nebraska Donor Registry.
On average, only 40 Nebraskans give the Gift of Life every year.
