‘Waverly seems to get hit a lot’: Four people steal Jeep, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is working to find a vehicle that was stolen in Waverly.
Early Friday morning, deputies were called to the area of 140th Street and Amberly Road about a stolen white Jeep Cherokee.
According to Chief Deputy Ben Houchin, a group of four people — in their late teens to early 20s — were seen on video stealing the car.
“Please don’t leave valuables in your car,” Houchin said at a press conference. “Take your keys out. Again, the best place to park is in your garage with the garage door down. The next best place is in your driveway, making sure your doors are locked. And then finally, in a well-lit area if you have to park in the street.”
According to Houchin, video caught two of the people getting in and out of a white pickup and checking multiple cars in the area.
“Waverly seems to get hit a lot on these,” Houchin said. “About every three or four months, we will get a group that goes through. We have recovered some of them, but we will do the best we can.”
The vehicle has yet to be found, and the theft is under investigation.
