Weekend forecast: Storms and heavy rain
Saturday into Sunday has the chance for strong to severe storms, heavy rain, and possibly some flooding.
Our latest StormCast model has anywhere from a quarter of an inch to over 2″ of rain possible through Sunday afternoon.
A FLOOD WATCH is in place for much of eastern Nebraska through Sunday. Excessive rain is possible.
The potential for severe storms is there, especially in SE Nebraska where a level 3 “Enhanced Risk” for severe weather is in place. The threat tapers off quickly further north and west.
StormCast has heavy rain and strong storms possible through Saturday night into Sunday.
There is another threat for tornadoes Saturday afternoon and evening, especially into far SE Nebraska and eastern Kansas.
Large hail is also possible in these same areas.
Damaging straight line winds will also be a possibility.
As we head into Sunday, temperatures cool off quite a bit. 50s to the west, 60s and 70s further east.
