What will President Trump’s first 24 hours look like? Lincolnites weigh in on what’s important

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – With the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Monday, the American people are hoping for big change.

The main theme of Trump’s inauguration speech was making sure the United States gets put first in every move he makes.

Channel 8 asked what you hope to see from the President when he takes office on the Now Local News App.

Citizen journalist Neveen, says she wants to see Trump take the economy by storm and turn his attention on the climate in the future.

“First thing I think Donald Trump should do once he gets into office is tackle the economy, but hopefully without the use of tariffs or alienating our allies,” she said. “And I would also love for him to tackle climate change as we see fires burning, as we see the planet getting hotter, as we see our environment changing but I’ve heard that he will be signing us out of the Paris Climate agreement so I’m not sure the climate is high on his list.”

The President talked a lot about pushing several executive orders through on day one.

Kevin, another citizen journalist, says although these orders are important, inflation should be his number one focus.

“Yes, he wants to take care of immigration and the border but inflation should be the most important thing because that’s the American way,” he said.

Trump promised a ‘golden age’ during his inaugural speech, a sentiment shared by many that hope to see prices lowered.

“Some things that I think he should do first after his inauguration is maybe work on the economy,” citizen journalist Winona said. “Let’s get those prices down to something that we can afford. People shouldn’t have to decide whether they want gas in their car or food in their fridge.”

While many Americans are hoping for a better economy with better prices, Melanie, another citizen journalist, says the biggest concern for Trump should be uniting the nation again.

“What I hope that President Trump does first is find ways for peace,” she said. “There’s a lot of anger, and a lot of split amongst Americans so I hope that he can find a way to bring peace for all.”

What will be taken up first during the new President’s term in office? Only time will tell.
