Who will Nebraska start at quarterback against Louisiana Tech?

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska football has a quarterback dilemma.

Jeff Sims, the transfer from Georgia Tech, struggled to protect the football in losses against Minnesota and Colorado.

And after suffering an injury against the Buffaloes, Sims sat out in the Northern Illinois game, in which backup Heinrich Haarberg led the Huskers to their first win of the season.

The Kearney native threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the 35-11 win.  He also ran 98 yards and had a rushing touchdown.

“He had unbelievable energy,” offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield said Tuesday.

Sims is still healing, but Satterfield said he took about 50% of the snaps during practice on Tuesday.

“I called some stuff where he had to keep the ball and run, and he did a nice job with that,” Satterfield said. “So, he’s progressing at the rate that we thought he would.”

So, who gets to start under center against Louisiana Tech on Saturday?  It’s unknown at the moment.

But Satterfield said it will be whoever gives the Huskers “the best chance to win.”

“We’re just taking it day by day,” he said.
